This edition of the journal Revista NovumJus presents a collection of papers on current issues in the fields of international relations, human rights, and the international system in general. Through this issue, we invite academic debate and profound reflection by exploring new perspectives, confronting unprecedented challenges, and making a unique contribution at the intersection of international law, global security, and the pursuit of social justice.
The pursuit of social justice demands commitment to critical description, analysis, and understanding of social divergence of legal interest,1 of issues concerning human and fundamental rights,2 particularly those affecting vulnerable ethnic groups3 and of women's rights.4 This exploration is now enriched with new challenges and fields.
Thus, the mission of the journal Revista Novum Jus is to disseminate knowledge while fostering critical and constructive dialogue about the most current, challenging, and pressing issues. In this edition, Novum Jus brings together a diverse range of topics, including decisions of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the challenges posed by artificial intelligence, cyber diplomacy, and human security in the new domains of warfare, among other topics of great interest. Each of the contributions has been meticulously selected through a peer-review process, aiming to provide fresh perspectives and reaffirming the journal's commitment to the global academic community.
As a result, the Journal strives to promote the exchange of ideas that not only enrich theoretical knowledge, but also contribute to the formulation of more effective public policies that safeguard human rights based on this interdisciplinary focus, developing a tool for social change.
In terms of actions and public policies aimed at transforming institutions and the social, political and legal roles played by the State, the academy has already introduced critical analyses or proposed new approaches. They include, for example, security policies5 and measures designed to protect vulnerable groups.6 The articles featured in this issue align with these winds of change, aiming to break from cultural colonialism in the pursuit of finding responses specifically designed to address the unique conditions and needs of the Global South, as has been increasingly emphasized.7
Finally, it is essential to acknowledge the efforts of our authors and readers, as the dissemination of their research and new knowledge is not an easy task. Their active participation is fundamental to achieving the high-quality standards demanded today. We extend our gratitude to those who chose us to publish their findings and to our readers for the impact they have generated through their engagement with our issues. This collective endeavor establishes Novum Jus as the leading academic journal in the field of law at the national level.
